For the Love of the Dead - Chapter 1Mid-afternoon, on another gloomy day in Eastmarch, a young Altmer giggled as she pushed open the door of her home. Her younger Bosmer sister ran in after her, both covered in snow.
"You're always better than me at this, Fadryne. I swear, you love hitting me in the face."
"That's what I was aiming for, Nianire. And I've got to enjoy being better than you at something."
With that, Nianire laughed, not expecting her younger sister to be so open about her inferiority complex. Fadryne was a better shot that her any day, but Nianire could always trick her with her stealth. Fadryne may win snowball fights, Nianire was a hide and seek champion.
She was unnaturally short for an Altmer. Her adoptive Bosmer mother wondered if it was somehow her fault, but Nianire was not bothered by it. It made some things easier, and since they were about the same size, they could find clothes for one another, which they loved to do. Her mother enjoyed seeing what colors would best go with Nianire's auburn hair,

Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
